Applied Principles at SOFHT luncheon 2009

Celebrating Applied Principles nomination for Best New Product are (left to right) SOFHT Chairman Jonathon Bayne, AP Quality Systems Manager, Richard Leathers     and Chief Executive of Greggs Plc. Kennedy McMeikan.

Applied Principles staff and guests attended the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Annual Lecture and Lunch to celebrate SOFHT’s 30th year. The event was held at the Landmark Hotel, Marylebone, London.

This year, Applied Principles were delighted to be nominated for the prestigious Best New Product award and although they weren’t crowned the winners, it’s given them something to aim for next year!

This year’s keynote speaker was Ken McMeikan, Chief Executive of Greggs plc whose subject was the very topical “Driving success in uncertain times”. His speech charted Greggs' rise from family business to an organisation which has 1400 shops. He also discussed the challenges of the recession, engaging with staff and customers, the work of the Greggs charitable foundation and working with the Food Standards Agency to meet tough new targets for the reduction of salt, sugar and fat in recipes whilst retaining the taste customers like.
